MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY:  This position provides day-to-day management and leadership of a program site with 60-125 students and 5-10 staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
   1. Coordinate Camp Site Activities and Logistics
        a.   Ensure adherence to schedule through smooth and timely transition between daily activities
        b.   Assist in coordination of field trips and transportation
        c.   Attend all enrichment activities, as scheduled
        d.   Ensure the safety and welfare of participants and staff assigned to site
        e.   Manage campsite in accord with guidelines and P&P policy
         f.   Oversee maintenance of records including student files, attendance records, and disciplinary actions taken
        g.   Serve as camp liaison with parents, partners, and volunteers
        h.   Contribute to final report on accomplishments of summer programs
         i.   Manage safe storage, distribution and return of participant medication
         j.   Maintain effective and consistent communication with Assistant Director of Operations and Assistant Director of Academics 
        k.   Facilitate daily meetings with Academic Mentor to ensure quality instruction and that effective management is provided in all classrooms  
         l.   Facilitate scheduled and consistent meetings with all site staff to ensure staff are adhering to camp policies and are receiving communications and updates from senior camp administration
        m.   Attend all required staffing meetings, as scheduled.
         n.   Oversee and enforce all safety precautions and policies
   2. Supervise, Coach and Evaluate Staff
         a.   Assist staff in class and behavioral management techniques
         b.   Provide support to Academic Mentor with content delivery and coordinate additional training as needed
         c.   Complete and submit performance evaluations for staff
         d.   Review and approve staff time submissions, and perform other routine operational tasks
         e. Cultivate, reinforce and promote a positive camp culture
   3. Review weekly progress with curricula and enrichment activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements

   • Bachelor’s degree in education or other related field
   • 1-2 years of experience in supervisory or program management position
   • Knowledge of learning styles and methods of delivery
   • Ability to prepare lesson plans and training activities
   • Experience in summer camp or other OST program management
   • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
   • Proficient in computer systems and MS Office software
   • Working knowledge of the Google Suite, including Google Classroom
   • Good oral/written communication skills
   • People skills and high energy needed to organize and motivate youth and staff

1.  Mentor 4-6 counselors and interns
     a. Provide one-on-one support to counselors and interns, modeling and guidance based on best practices for effective classroom instruction and management
     b. Provide guidance to counselors on successful strategies for co-planning with interns
     c. Facilitate professional development sessions at the site level
     d. Assist with cross-curricular integration of morning and afternoon instruction and management
     e. Differentiate curriculum, as needed, to ensure that quality instruction is provided in all classrooms
      f. Observe delivery of instruction in counselor’s classrooms; provide meaningful feedback and communicate results to Counselor, Site Coordinator and Assistant Director, Academics
     g. Ensure adherence to schedule through smooth and timely transition between daily activities
     h. Ensure that classroom management is in accordance with camp guidelines and P&P policy
      i. Participate in other camp activities as needed and as appropriate to position

2. Evaluation
     a. Administer pre and post assessments
     b. Collect and analyze 100 Book Challenge data for submission to Assistant Director, Academics
     c. Work in collaboration with the Volunteer & Data Assistant to ensure timely collection, review and submission of assessments, evaluations and other data to Assistant Director, Academics
     d. Maintain student records and other reports, as requested
     e. Attend and participate in staff planning meetings
      f. Attend and participate in Academic Mentor professional development sessions

3.   Supervise Participants
     a. Ensure that all students are actively engaged in the learning process
     b. Supervise students on planned field trips, outdoor exploration experiences and enrichment activities
     c. Utilize positive behavioral and classroom management techniques
     d. Ensure that students behave in a safe, respectful, and orderly manner
     e. Assist in meal distribution and clean-up, if applicable

4.  Develop and facilitate family engagement sessions for site families

QUALIFICATIONS:

         f.    Take and submit daily attendance; document and report to Site Coordinator; make daily phone calls to parent/guardian of absentees as appropriate
        g.    Assist enrichment providers with planned activities
        h.    Manage classroom in accordance with camp guidelines and Parks & People policy
         i.    Complete bi-weekly academic & behavioral reports, pre- and post- camp assessments; submit to the Academic Mentor or Site Coordinator, as assigned. Maintain records including student performance, disciplinary actions                         taken, and other reports as requested.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY:  Branches Youth Development & Environment Instructors are responsible for direct supervision of 10-15 program participants, implementation of conservation, education and science projects, and maintaining a safe work environment for participating youth, both online and in-person, during summer employment.
